The Versatility of a Vest

I love jean jackets and blazers. I love how they can dress up practically any outfit and yet make you look effortless. But, living in Louisiana, when summer comes around and the temperatures reach 100 and over that cute jacket gets kinda hot. So, my go-to solution is the vest.

Vests are sleeveless. Therefore you won't get stuck trying to look good but drenched in sweat. I mean, they say beauty is pain but does it really have to be?

A vest is one of the quickest (and coolest) ways to change up an outfit. It can give a tank top a little pizazz and fix up a sundress by giving your arms and shoulder a little coverage. And what makes them even better is that they come in all kind of styles.

So the next time your in a clothing store and you don't know what to buy I'd suggest a vest. It's one piece of clothing that you can use again and again.

Print Dress: One Dress, Endless Possibilities

Hello everyone and welcome to today's post. Ok, so we all have that one dress that's cute and comfortable but after a few wears we get kind of bored with it. Well, I've pulled together a few looks that will give a simple print dress a spin.

I call this segment "The Quadruple Take."

                           1 Dress, 4 Looks

Look #1 - All Business
The easiest way to make a simple dress office ready is to add a blazer. This one piece of clothing has the power to take a casual dress to job interview status in a few seconds.  Add a pair of heels and your look is complete. I added some nude wedges to give my feet some extra support.

Look #2 - Vest is Best
The easiest way to give this look some flare is to throw on a vest. It changes the look and the shape of the dress without feeling like you're weighed down by a bunch of clothes.

Look #3 - A Sweater is Better
One of the quickest ways to brush up a dress is to add a sweater. Change up the shape by wrapping a belt around and put on some boots for a cool fall day. What I like about this look is that it can go from autumn to spring or night to day with a simple shoe change.

Look #4 - Lots of Layers
As for the last look it has a summer feel all the way. Turn your dress into a skirt by layering a tank over it. Switch up your style even more by wearing a pair of Converse sneakers with it. The unconventional foot wear gives the girly outfit a touch of skater charm.

One dress really can have endless possibilities with the right accessories and a little time. So go and take a look in your closet. You never know what you'll find.

Jean Jacket Love

One item of clothing that every girl should have in her closet is jean jacket. You can dress it up or dress it down, wear it to a picnic or even to church. It can take a casual white t-shirt and give it some flare or compliment a cute dress.

I got mine from Old Navy and it's been my go-to piece from fall, winter, and spring. It's amazing how this one piece of clothing can create so many different outfits.

It's finally sandal weather!

I'm so excited that spring is here and summer's just around the corner. And you know what that means, don'tcha? Sandals! Flip flips! Shoes that can show off your pedicure. Believe, sandals in the summer time are a must and here just a few of my favorites:

Aren't they pretty? But I think the ones I got from Academy are definitely the best.

Maxi Skirt Confidence

Ok, so we've all seen a girl in a magazine or on a billboard or even in the mall wearing a long, flowing maxi skirt. And we've all had the thought, "I would never be able to pull that off." Well, I used to think the same way until I realized that all the girls I saw in the magazines and on the billboards had something in common with me: we're all just girls. And in the musical words of Cyndi Lauper, girls just wanna have fun!

Once I realized that their outfits were not unattainable but totally accessible, I went over to Wal-Mart and bought me a maxi skirt. And I learned something. Clothes only enhance the confidence you already have. So instead of trying to look exactly like the girls in the magazines (who have been styled and photo shopped, by the way) put your own spin on the outfit. Besides, by doing your own thing people get to see the real you. And who knows? Maybe you'll give someone else the confidence to wear something they never thought they would.

Introductions

Hi, my name's Nellie Coody and welcome to my blog.

Thank you so much for stopping by my little space on the internet and taking the time to read this. I'm hoping this blog will be a place where you can come when you need a smile or to find a little affordable fashion/beauty advice. I love Jesus, singing along to the radio, singing, trying out Pinterest recipes for my family, and curling up with a good book. But I really love fashion and beauty. And I think that fashion and beauty should be for everyone - regardless of their size, style, or even their finances $$. Coco Chanel said that a girl should be two things: classy and fabulous. She never said anything about expensive.  That my friends is called "Reading Between the Lines." ;)

So, basically this blog will be a collection of things that inspire me, things that fascinate me, and things that I just feel need to be shared. You'll find everything from makeup reviews to movie review. If you like it check me out on these social media spots:
