Hello everyone and welcome to today's post. I was in Stage the other day and I came across this beautiful lace and floral dress. Of course I loved it and thought to myself, "This dress needs to be in my closet, ASAP!" Plus, it was on sale. So I bought it and when I got home I found myself thinking of all the different ways I could style it. Living in Louisiana I've learned that whenever I buy a piece of clothing it had better be versatile because the weather is crazy down here. It might be a chilly 36 degrees in the morning and by lunch it can heat up to a humid 75.
So I wanted to share with you how I would style this dress for Spring, Summer, and the Office. If that's something you're interested in keep on reading >>>>
In Louisiana Spring weather jumps back and forth between chilly nights and mornings to warm and humid days. So with that in mind, I decided to pair this dress with a jean jacket I got from Cato's a few years back. The blue of the jacket contrasted nicely with the read floral design of the skirt and did a great job of keeping my arms warm in the chilly breezes that occur all too often in spring.
I also paired the dress with some Cognac Cage Sandal Wedges I got from Torrid. These shoes were really comfortable because they're wide width and the wedge heel wasn't too high. Plus the cognac color subtlety complimented the lace cream top of the dress by drawing the eye to another neutral.
Summer in the L-State is hot and by hot I mean scorching. The last thing you want to wear are layers, long-sleeves, or anything that covers your arms because you're definitely going to sweat when that Louisiana heat hits you. So instead of the jean jacket I opted for a jean vest I got last summer. I wanted to keep the blue on top without the hotness of sleeves so I grabbed the vest. A jean vest can be real lifesaver if you want to add a little somethin' extra to an otherwise simple outfit.
I also changed the wedges to some Time and Tru Scrunch Back Canvas Sneakers I got from Walmart. These shoes have quickly become my favorite sneakers of all time. I love them even more than my Converse (and that's sayin' somethin') because they have memory foam at the bottom and I don't have to tie them. These shoes are perfect for wearing with this dress in the summer because they're comfortable, easy to slip on, and won't slow you down. Plus they're really good shoes for the wallet friendly price of $9.94.
Keeping the versatility thing in mind I knew I had to be able to wear this dress to work or even to church so I had to think of a way to dress it up. So, of course, I pulled out my go-to dress-up-any-outfit accessory: a khaki blazer. I got this blazer from Cato's and I really like how it complimented the neutral colors of the skirt and sandals.
I hope I gave you guys a few ideas of how to style dresses in your own closets and I hope you enjoyed the post. Thanks for reading and until next time . . .
XOXO,
Nellie
